This ninety-something-year-old grandma is not to be played with. Realizing she’d been scammed, she sets out on a journey for justice. This movie was surprisingly hilarious and on its way to becoming a classic. I’d watch it again. The movie reminded me of previous family conversations and concerns about my elders over the years, including the humorous and sad events that occur in life. You won’t want to miss this one. Thelma will touch your heart, especially if you are an independent soul who understands her quest.
Thelma's family remains on edge throughout the movie worried about her. But, Thelma's not worried. The scammers better be. Picking up a side-kick after stealing his scooter, Thelma is not giving up because of her age. It's still her life and she is going to live it her way or no way. And no one is going to take advantage of her, not even a cockroach.
Watch it. You won't regret it. Have fun. It's available on HULU.
If you like Thelma, you will love the short story "Talk Ya to Death" in this little book of short stories in which Granny Rachel says goodbye to another friend.
